My second I never had a period. For 20 percent of women it will disappear all together. I got my mirena out a month ago to see if it would help my libido come back. The first 3 to 6 months may bring irregular periods longer or heavier. It has been a few weeks since it was removed so I havent gotten to the next period yet. Yes some women can have prolonged bleeding after Mirena is inserted.
